Albert Castiglia – Living the Dream
Albert Castiglia is a blues guitarist, first and foremost, and on his fifth solo CD, Living the Dream, he continues to do what he does best. The title cut is straight forward guitar playing blues that deals with the reality of life as a bluesman…it ain’t all wine and roses for damn sure! The second cut, The Man, is a great upbeat little tune with a message. “Hand full of suits…held up the country without a gun…got so greedy the whole system failed…didn’t do no time but got a whole lotta bail!” I’ve never heard it expressed better and with some fine guitar licks to boot! Albert has always paid homage to the blues masters on his albums and this one is no different with a superb Freddie King instrumental tune, Freddie’s Boogie, and a great cover of Paul Butterfield’s Lovin Cup. I also really loved Fat Cat, a rockin’ boogie blues instrumental that showcases Albert’s talent.
There isn’t much not to like on this CD! If you like the rockin’ blues, and I certainly do, then you will enjoy this album. And if you are lucky enough to live in Albert’s hometown of Miami or will be visiting south Florida this summer or early fall, he will be playing a number of gigs in the area. Go see him live….it’s part of livin’ the blues dream.
