Yamirah’s Solar Explorers, das Berliner Indie-Jazz-Trio um Berklee-Absolventin Yamirah Gercke veröffentlichen ihr Debütalbum „Andromeda Galaxy“, eine cineastische Fusion
aus Contemporary Jazz, Indie-Soul, R&B und artvollem Pop mit starkem Sog. Gitarre, Keys und Drums verschmelzen zu einem warmen, modernen Sound, der gleichermaßen intim
wie kosmisch wirkt.
Im Zentrum der Band steht Yamirah Gercke, kreative Mastermind und stilprägende Gitarristin. Die gebürtige Bostonerin absolvierte das Berklee College of Music und entwickelte früh eine unverwechselbare musikalische Sprache zwischen Jazz, Pop und Filmmusik. Ihre Soloalben „Neighbors“ und „Pressure“ machten international auf sie aufmerksam, letzteres wurde vom Indie Visions Film Festival ausgezeichnet. Ein wesentlicher Teil ihrer musikalischen DNA stammt aus der intensiven Zusammenarbeit mit ihrem Vater, dem Schlagzeuger Lenjes Robinson, mit dem sie im Projekt Bad Ass Freaks arbeitete. Sein Einfluss, rhythmisch, spirituell und emotional, prägt ihr Schaffen bis heute.
Mit ihrem eigenen Label Fat Banshee Records engagiert sich Gercke zudem leidenschaftlich für die Förderung junger, unabhängiger Künstler:innen.
Pianist Sacha Hladiy bringt eine europäische Perspektive in das Trio. Ausgebildet an der renommierten Bill Evans Piano Academy in Paris, verbindet er Jazzpiano-Tradition mit experimentellen, zeitgenössischen und klassischen Elementen. Bei Yamirah’s Solar Explorers übernimmt er auf dem Nord Stage nicht nur Harmonien und Soli, sondern auch die Basslinien und erweitert den Bandsound zu weitläufigen Klanglandschaften.
Schlagzeugerin Ria Rother schließlich ist das rhythmische Rückgrat der Band. Ausgebildet in Leipzig und Porto und fest in der Berliner Jazzszene verankert, bewegt sie sich mühelos zwischen Big Band, kammermusikalischen Formaten und freier Improvisation.
Auf „Andromeda Galaxy“ verdichtet sich diese gemeinsame Handschrift zu einer neunteiligen Klangreise. Von der energiegeladenen Eröffnung „Flying“ über den komplexen 7/8-Titeltrack bis zu balladesken und spirituellen Momenten entfaltet das Album ein breites emotionales Spektrum. Yamirah’s Solar Explorers, the Berlin indie jazz trio led by Berklee graduate Yamirah Gercke, release their debut album ‘Andromeda Galaxy’, a cinematic fusion of contemporary jazz, indie soul, R&B and artful pop with a strong pull. Guitar, keys and drums merge intoa warm, modern sound that is both intimate and cosmic.
At the heart of the band is Yamirah Gercke, creative mastermind and style-defining guitarist. Born in Boston, she graduated from Berklee College of Music and early on developed a distinctive musical language between jazz, pop and film music. Her solo albums ‘Neighbours’ and ‘Pressure’ brought her international attention, the latter receiving an award from the Indie Visions Film Festival. A significant part of her musical DNA comes from her intensive collaboration with her father, drummer Lenjes Robinson, with whom she worked on the Bad Ass Freaks project. His influence, rhythmic, spiritual and emotional,continues to shape her work to this day.
With her own label, Fat Banshee Records, Gercke is also passionately committed to promoting young, independent artists.
Pianist Sacha Hladiy brings a European perspective to the trio. Trained at the renowned Bill Evans Piano Academy in Paris, he combines jazz piano tradition with experimental, contemporary and classical elements. With Yamirah’s Solar Explorers, he not only takes on harmonies and solos on the Nord Stage not only harmonies and solos, but also the bass lines, expanding the band’s sound into expansive soundscapes.
Finally, drummer Ria Rother is the rhythmic backbone of the band. Trained in Leipzig and Porto and firmly anchored in the Berlin jazz scene, she moves effortlessly between big band, chamber music formats and free improvisation.
On ‘Andromeda Galaxy’, this shared signature condenses into a nine-part sound journey. From the energetic opening track ‘Flying’ to the complex 7/8 title track and balladic and spiritual moments, the album unfolds a broad emotional spectrum. Audible
references to Glass Beams, Robert Glasper and Yussef Dayes always remain a means to an end. Andromeda Galaxy is both a tribute and an invitation: a debut with
